Marco Veltrani: Your Local Expert


Marco studied at the University of Pisa where he graduated with a biology degree and majored in ornithology. An experienced hiking guide and environmental consultant, Marco wrote his university thesis on the ecology of the sandpiper and the dunlin in the Mediterranean Basin. Since university, he has contributed to a number of wildlife surveys, ecology education initiatives and environmental impact papers. What’s more, he has written a number of well-received articles and scientific studies central Italian landscapes and their birdlife. He has co-authored a number of guides on Tuscan wildlife, natural habitats and nature trails. First employed as a birding guide in 1999, Marco has worked for a number of British and American nature tourism firms and has tour-guide experience both at home and abroad. Now living in the Tuscan city of Arezzo, Marco resides with his family. He spends his free time exploring undiscovered habitats and identifying new features within recognized species.
